ANTOINETTE PRIEN SCHULTZE
Red Peacock
Granite & bronze-red glass
36" x 16" x 13"
Antoinette Prien Schultze's sculptures merge two disparate elements - solid, impenetrable stone ( marble and granite ) and large chunks of pure and intensely colored glass. Light skips over and through the glass casting exquisite colored shadows on the honed, impenetrable stone. Often the radiant colored shadows shift to the wall and the floor. The structural qualities of the stone with its gravity and weight introduce a feeling of strength and longevity that is made fragile with the addition of the jewel-like glass.
